Case Study : Pocket Doors

Residence: The Falls at Promontory Ridge
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Developer: Monaco Development
Architect: SAC Design

Background:  A Custom Home located on a scenic ridge in one of the most prestigious neighborhoods of Las Vegas.
This property was selected as the host home for the 2008 Las Vegas Parade of Homes.  Featured in the home are numerous waterfalls, spectacular stone-work, unique color combinations and multiple opportunities to combine interior and exterior living space.

The Challenge:  To Provide lift and slide pocketing doors for 7 door openings and a window opening.

  1. Four of the openings  were specified as bi-parting 90 degree units with unsupported corners.
All openings to have embedded tracks with varying finished floor materials.
  2. One opening designed as a bi-parting pocketing window with minimal roof overhang
  3. Color match to custom color specification
  4. Straight doors installed in radius walls.

Solution:  Redstone worked closely with the owner and site superintendent to fabricate sill track heights to match the various finish floors used in each room.  Redstone factory representatives installed pocketing systems in locations where both interior and exterior walls were structural and the door frames could not be installed in one piece.
Radius walls were engineered to accept a straight pocket door system. A low profile threshold provided protection against the elements and drainage for the upstairs 90 degree bi-parting pocket window. Redstone worked with the window supplier to provide an exact color match of the aluminum cladding. Additional images of this project will be coming soon.
